Tapeworms

There are several ways your dog can become infected with tapeworms. One way is through fleas and another is by eating raw meat or fish. There are usually no signs of infection, although one possible sign is that your dog may "scoot" its rear end along the floor. Infection is treated by medications that must be prescribed by your veterinarian.

Tapeworms can be prevented by giving your dog a medication designed to prevent tapeworm. Also, keeping your dog free of fleas will prevent tapeworms from ever appearing, and of course never allow your dog to eat raw meat or fish.
