Roundworms are internal parasites that live in the
small intestine. Most puppies are born with roundworm, or get it from their mother's milk,
so it is important to give them de-worming treatments. Adults usually show no signs of
infection and need to be tested by your vet.
If roundworm infection is found in your dog the vet will prescribe medications to treat
it. As with all internal parasites, the best method of treatment is prevention. There are
medications available for preventing roundworm. Picking up stools from your yard will also
prevent roundworm infection.
