Stories About Our
Furry Friends

I have a one year old Shetland
sheepdog. He is tri-colour, and he is the sweetest dog, He sleeps in
my room and when I have a nightmare he jumps on my bed and licks my face
until I wake up, Then he will stay on my bed until I fall back
asleep. When you hold out your arms he runs into them because he
loves hugs and kisses. Tango loves hugs, cuddling, kids and long walks by
the river. He may be just a puppy, but I know he understands my
moods. He licks my face when I cry. My dog is the greatest
gift I have, he changed my life for the better, and I cant imagine life
without him. I wish other dog owners feel the same way.

Within one year, we lost our cat of 15
years, our cockatiel of 18 years, and our
precious Maltese, Lucie, of 12 years. Just this week, we adopted a year
old male Maltese from a family who loved
him, but could no longer keep him. His
name is Elmo, AKC registered name, Tickle
Me Elmo!
I was so heartbroken over the loss of my
pets that I never thought that I would ever want another. But then I
got a parakeet and now Elmo. He is so precious,
and even though Lucie can never be replaced, he has mended a big empty
hole in my heart and helped me get through some of my sorrow.
He is so sweet and loving, and even though
we have only had him three days, he acts as if he has owned us forever!

BUDDY...
Hi. I'm a 10 year old girl that lost her best friend. I'm going to tell you about my best friend and how he died.
One day we got a phone call, and it was one of my mom's friends. She said she had found a dog laying
on the side of the street. She explained she couldn't take care of him. So my mom picked him up and
brought him home. We put up signs and every thing saying we had found a dog, but no one phoned. We
decided to keep him. One day we decided to name him. My mom said Buddy so that was the name. I loved
Buddy with all my heart. I had promised him we would be best friends forever and forever together. But
that didn't happen. After two years we saw Buddy getting sick. This wasn't right because it had blood in it. I was
crying so hard I could barely see. I kept saying in my head, "please don't die please." When we went to the
vet it took about a half hour till the vet came out. He told my mom he has cancer in his throat. My mom
told me that they gave him a sleeping pill so they could operate, but he didn't wake up. I still feel Buddy
is still with me. His spirit is always in my heart and will stay there forever. He is still my best
friend, and he will for ever know that's a promise. Even though he died about 4 to 5 years ago I still cry
and remember that little promise I made. I had made a poem about Buddy, and this is how it goes:
It was hard enough to see you die than it was for me to cry
Oh boy I really did try to stop you to die
and I wish you were here now so I could hold you in my arms
and say I love you and good bye*
After Buddy died, I dont really trust vets that much for they didn't check for cancer in his throat. Now
they leave me here broken hearted. They didnt even give me a chance to say good bye or give him a last
hug. Buddy will be my best friend forever, and that's a promise that will not die*
**the end**

Maggie
We adopted Maggie from our local Humane Society. She's a Old English
Sheepdog Mix. She's 4yrs old & a very loving and sweet dog. Then we adopted
Brodie from a Rescue Shelter. He's 2yrs old. He was abused by a man, so he
didn't care for my husband at first, but as time has went on he is getting
better. He still is scared of my husband at times, but everyday gets much
better. So please if you are looking for a pet, PLEASE adopt one from your
local Humane Society or Rescue Shelter. What you get is a lifetime of Love and
Companionship.

Teddy
My dog Teddy is an 11 year old golden retriever. Or
as some have called him,a golded recliner. He has been
spoiled from birth and truly is a baby. He cries when he is loney and wants to be petted
and held. Holding a 100 lbs.
dog is not easy. He loves to go for rides in the car and refuses to sit in the back seat.
On walks, he makes it about
half way back up the driveway, sits down and won't get up. So my dad will leave him and get
the car to pick him up.Of
course he gets right in.At night he has been known to hop on my dad's side of the bed when
my dad gets up to get a
drink and won't get up for anything.
Sir Nicholas (Nicky)
One year, a few weeks before X-mas, I started
telling my Sis all I wanted was a dachshund for X-mas. She told me it was impossible
because our land-lady did not allow pets. About a week before X-mas an adult, male,
nuetered dachshund wandered into our yard. Because I have lost a "doxy" before,
I knew his owners must be devasted, but after a thorough search for the owner, none turned
up. All we could figure was that someone in a neighboring city had "dropped" him
in our neighborhood. So I got my X-mas wish and named him Sir Nicholas after St. Nick. He
has been MY "baby" ever since. I am afraid that he is terribly spoiled (in a
good way).
My niece recently got a lab mix but Nicky still rules the roost.
They are like brothers! Her lab even gets in Nicky's dog house! He is so big that his head
hangs out. Nicky lays on top of him and cuddles up in his long, warm fur. They both
"beg" at my bedroom window for treats (vitamins).

Seager:
On my dad's birthday we got him a German chocolate cake. Our golden
retreiver Seager, was up on the counter eating what he had not already eaten of the cake.
My sister went over to him and tried to pull him away, and he playfully bit her. This
story teaches you not to mess with a dog while it is eating, it also, (if you have the
same sense of humor as I do) is funny.
![[ Divider Line ]](../graphics/paws22_350x15.gif) Ringo:
My 4 1/2 month old puppy's name is Ringo. He is
a character! He does things like climbing in the swings in our back yard and getting stuck
in them. That is just one example of the humerous things he does.
We are still not sure what kind of mixed breed dog he is, that assuming he is mixed, we
have never seen one like him! We adopted him from the local animal control.
Our veterinarian is not even sure what he is. He has big, straight, perky ears, like
a Corgi. He has markings like an Australian Shepherd, black and white.
When we fist got him, his ears were folded over and he looked like a Border Collie.
Well, I just wanted to share my story. We also have a Siamese
cat, and a 6 month old Netherland dwarf male rabbit.--Heather G.

Suzie:
I recently lost my best friend, Suzie, a
rottweiler/shepard mix. We got her in July 1996, at 9 weeks of age. Well, she picked us
out by running straight to me when she was let out of her pen. She rolled right over on
her back like she wanted her tummy rubbed. When we got her home, I thought it would be a
good idea to introduce her to my Siberian Husky, but before I got her within 50 ft of him
she let out a scream and jumped from my arms and ran back to the house. So I decided to
let her make friends on her own, which she did within two weeks. The next thing she did
was become buddies with our pet duck (Pet) wherever he was she went and so on. I don't
believe they knew they were different. She would play with him as if he were another puppy
and he would play and chase her as if she were a duck. As Suzie got older she would out of
the blue come over to you and put her front legs over your shoulders and give you kisses.
I miss her very much! -- Kathy G.
Tator
Was my dog all my life up until I was nine years old. She was such a
great dog, and we were best friends for so long. It's true what they say
'dogs are man's best friend'. Tator would follow me around the neighborhood
if I took a walk, or if I ever went anywhere, she would follow me, because
she loved me.
I've heard stories from my mother about how this dog used to watch over me
when I was a baby. I loved her so much, and she was my best friend. I
remember her alot now. But Tator died a few years ago, of throat cancer. The
vet had to put her to sleep because of it, so she would be in no more pain.
I still love that dog, she was my darling :)
Buffy
This kitty cat that I have now is so beautiful. She was a stray, came
out of nowhere to my house. So odd, my neighbor had died the night before,
and Buffy just came walking up to my porch one Sunday morning. I've had her
for about 8 months now. She's such a beautiful cat, and is a very rare
breed.
Fitz
You can only guess where this fellow got his name. The very morning
after John F Kenndey Jr's plane went down, I found Fitz on the shoulder of
the road. He was only 5 weeks old when I found him, and he's grown so much.
Fitz is an un-reasonably cute kitten.
You should see him, he's so adorable :)
I love my pets so much. All the ones who have passed on, I still love. The
ones I have now are so cute and loveable.
There's something special about pets, they bring us all love and protection
when we feel down or even when we feel good. The purr of a cat can make you
smile, or just the simple things they do. You just feel the love from pet to
person. It's awesome. I love animals, hope my story wasn't too 'weird'. I
hope you enjoyed it.
